Product Spotlight: Range iPhone Thermometer

So, things are getting pretty crazy chez Tiny Gourmet! We just signed on a new apartment, which we’ll be moving into in a month, and then two weeks later we take off on a little adventure to Thailand! I’m beyond excited, but it’s starting to hit me how much is going to happen over the next month and a half. Most importantly, our new place has a really lovely kitchen where I’m looking forward to creating some more delicious dishes to share with you here!

Something that is definitely making my life a lot easier despite all of the craziness (good craziness, rest assured!) is this awesome new kitchen thermometer called the Range. Seriously, this thing is kinda changing my life. As someone who spends a considerable amount of time making pastries and candy, I have literally burned through half a dozen candy thermometers over the past two years. I prefer using a digital read thermometer, but I find that many of them can’t withstand the high temperatures of boiling sugar syrup, and I only get a few uses out of them before the digital read fizzles out.

I first saw the Range on a Kickstarter campaign about a year ago, and I immediately knew I had to have one. Range plugs into the headphone jack on your iPhone or iPad and works with a free app. The cord is long enough that I can hold my iPhone far away from the heat source while still getting an accurate digital read on the temperature — brilliant! There is also a nerdy/awesome feature that charts the temperature change over time. What more could you ask for? It has made both my home cooking and my macaron classes run much more smoothly!

If you want your own Range, head on over to Supermechanical — I promise it’s worth it!

FYI: I was not paid or given free product for this post. Just my own genuine opinion!
